Swimming!
Sunday, October 28, 2007
YAY! Finally, in oh so many months later (actually, only 6), I get to swim again!Woodlands Swimming Complex has finally completed its renovation, and excited members of the public thronged the crowded pool (making it more crowded) on Saturday to get a taste of the new pool water.
Okay, that last line was probably not correct. But it was certainly crowded when me, SL and Joyce went to swim in the evening yesterday.
We broke the first tradition before we even entered the pool. But I cannot publicly tell you what. It's a sensitive matter... But still, ouch, goes our wallet.
After much hoo-haa and meowings, we finally put our stuff into a locker and went ahead with the actual swimming.
Before I tell you that, I shall describe the new swimming complex.
The baby pool is now upgraded! With slides, water spewing out of lots of weirdly shaped contraptions, almost reminiscent of Wild Wild Wet. The children's pool (I term it the "middle pool") still remains the same old thing. The competition pool remains the same though, except that there's a tarp/tent-like thingy hanging over half of the pool, perfect for a shade to escape the horrendous midday sun.
Gone are the shops, and in place, there's a gym. Entrance fees cost $2.50, and it is separate from the pool entrance. It is big, and air-conditioned, so gym-goers might want to check it out. There's a new section near the competition pool. They installed a changing room for the kids there. Well, new concept. I saw quite a lot of kids using it, so probably it's a good move by the management to have that facility.
Okay. Onwards to swim. We swam, and we gossiped. Basically, that's what happened. Swimming and gossiping lasted 1.5hours. I am of course, the slowest swimmer, but I hardly care now. But I was freezing! Seriously. I literally froze too. My fingers went numb at the end of the swim, and felt like a block of hardened flesh for 30minutes even after I came out of the pool. o.O But, YAY! Swimming! Something to keep myself fit and slim while I indulge in sins of delicious food. :P
Oh yes. I forgot to describe the changing room! For the males, that is. (What, if you want updates on how the female changing room looks like, ask the two girls. I ain't stepping into that even if you give me a million dollars.) The open concept is gone, and in place, lots and lots and LOTS of cubicles. They totally improved the cubicles by leaps and bounds too. There's now a small partition to put your bags and belongings, and it won't get wet from the shower. So useful!
I am certainly wanting to come back for another swim. :D
P/s: Dear ASG. Look at the latest post in our blog concerning swimming. :D
Civic Duty
Sunday, October 21, 2007
After living in Woodlands Circle for 10 years (OMG! It has been 10 years already!), I performed my first civic duty as a resident of Woodlands.I called the Town Council to report a faulty lift.
I cannot believe that the rest of the residents has been able to stand having only 1 operational lift for more than one day. I didn't have my handphone with me yesterday, or else I would have called. I thought someone would do it wor, since depending only on one lift is very irritating.
I called, and within 2 hours, the lift is up and running again. I am so proud of myself. :D
Modeling Class 1
Thursday, October 18, 2007
Welcome to Kelvin Yip's Modeling Class. I have decided to impart my wisdom onto all of you Lesson 1 shall focus on the following picture. Click here to see it. (Apparently, it doesn't load as a picture in my blog. I don't know why.)
Look at my pose, ladies and gentlemen. Lesson 1: SHAVE YOUR ARMPITS!
You cannot achieve such perfection and beauty if you have a bush of armpit hairs sticking out of your sleeve. I mean, oh my god! How ugly will the picture be? This picture shows you why shaving your armpit hair is important.
And of course, besides shaving to look good, it is much more hygienic too. When you work out and get all sweaty, you won't have so much dirt and sweat sticking on your underarms. And your tops won't have that ugly patch of wet thing that shows that you have way too much underarm hair for comfort. And it won't be so itchy too.
And you boys shouldn't use "BUT MEN DON'T SHAVE THEIR UNDERARMS" as an excuse. Hello. I did it. What am I? Chopped liver? If I can do it, so can you. And if you really don't want, at least trim it and make it neat and tidy, instead of a whole mess of a bush running amok your armpits.
For women, simply no excuse NOT TO SHAVE. Underarms on women = instant ugliness. Period. No arguing.
So, shave.
Thank you class. That will be all for today's lesson.
HL's 20th Birthday Celebration
Sunday, October 14, 2007
Yesterday, ASG went out to celebrate HL's 20th birthday. Now, as someone who have not used a camera phone in such a long time, I couldn't resist the opportunity to take photos! So, today, you will be getting a photo blog, of sorts, detailing our adventures! :D
First, we went to Far East Square to eat ramen. I forgot the name of the store, but apparently, SL recommended it. I ordered Teriyaki Chicken Ramen, with only a chili rating of "1". Luckily I ordered that. 2 chillies is crazy hot, and 4 chillies can KILL ME DEAD. I will not think of the 6 and 8 chillies. It's unthinkable. (And nobody ordered that anyway. We are all sane.)

After that, we walked around for a bit, digesting the spicy ramen. We chanced upon this cool snazzy fountain and we all took photos posing with it. (I've noticed that now hor, ASG photos are becoming more and more sexist. Like, girls posing together, then guys posing together. Hello. What happened to the good old days where everyone posed together?)

Then, we came upon this square where there are a lot of swings and stuff and everyone just went photo-crazy. I didn't take a lot of photos, but here's one with me and Joyce, taken with her phone this time.

We went to VivoCity next, and decided to go to Hagen-Daaz to have the customary cake ceremony. "Cake", being, 5 scoops of ice-cream stacked on some fancy waffle skin. Rather unique, oui? We also ordered chocolate fondue, where everyone went crazy over.
After that, we went to the open space top level of Vivo's, and proceeded for more photo takings. Unfortunately, my camera absolutely sucks at taking night photos. Absolutely horrendous, so no photos from my camera. But I've got photos from CQ! So, here are my

We went to Daiso after our mad photo-taking and model-posing, where everyone also went crazy in buying cheap Japanese products (ALL for $2!!). I got delicious grape sweet from SL, so I ain't complaining. :P
We went home after that, at around 10.30ish. It was a great day. Kudos to SL and Glor (and if I left anyone out, please let me know) for organising this. :)
My Surprise
Saturday, October 13, 2007
TADA!!!! My surprise is finally here, after so many Please look at the picture below.

That is right. SHOCKED? SURPRISED? YAY? MEOW?
I've finally gotten myself a darn cool awesome phone. Wait. Really.
This cost me $48, a steal I tell you, from Singtel. I always wanted a camera weekend phone, and a phone to use after my ORD (OMG 6.16 more months TO GO!!!). I figured, since all the good phones are so expensive, and I don't have money to spend after my ORD, I might as well bank in on the really hot Singtel deals now.
Really. My Nokia 6120 Classic is worth its $48. It has almost all the features of the cool new phones in the market (Bluetooth, 3.5G, all that cool jazz except WiFi, but who really cares because I got 3.5G) and it is light and tiny and really cool-looking.
My number remains unchanged at .... (What, are you crazy? Do you expect me to publish my number on the World Wide Web, where predators and pedophiles roam (I am still 20 k. I am not an adult, yet.)?) So, no worries, people.
Meow.
Sushi on an Off Day
Tuesday, October 9, 2007
Today I had my off for the sportscar duty I did last Saturday afternoon. YAY!It feels so shuang to sleep and wake up till I feel like waking up. It has been so long since I am able to do that. It feels great, man! :D I managed to sleep for 10.5 hours. Last time, I can sleep for 14 hours, but now, I can't even sleep beyond 12 hours. I don't know whether that is a good or bad thing leh....
I am going out to eat Sakae Sushi's dinner buffet with Joyce, again. We have cravings, people. Cravings. You cannot ignore cravings. Especially cravings for chawanmushi. CHAWANMUSHI!!! OH MY DELICIOUS SUMPTUOUS CHAWAN..... Erm-hm. Sorry for the outburst. Yes, like I said, cravings must be fulfilled. And they will be, at 6.30pm. :D
And ahahaha. I changed my blog music. I don't know why, but today, I had an urge to listen to Umbrella. And then, I found different versions and covers of the Rihanna's song, and this one, my dear friends, is the one I love best. Even better than the original, I say. Go take a listen to it. :D
And, and, and!!! I have a secret! 一个不能说的秘密。Expect the secret to be unveiled this coming Thursday. Or Friday. Whenever I find the time to post. :D
My Polo On A Celeb
Wednesday, October 3, 2007
While watching today's episode of 排排站,查查看2 (Where The Queue Starts 2) on Channel 8 today, I noticed something familiar.....OMG! It turns out that Zheng Ge Ping, the guest judge for today's episode, is wearing one of my newly bought polo tees (cross-refer to September 16 entry, first picture)!
OMG I was so amazed! I first thought that the polo tee looks good, and the more I look at it, the more I find it familiar... then BAM! It hit me! It's the exact same polo tee I bought!
I was so pleased. It shows that I have style and taste and good fashion sense. :P I mean, come on. Celebs wear good outfits to go on screen (most of the time, anyway), and it shows that my polo tee is good-looking enough to be presentable on screen. And it's true. Ge Ping looks good in it. Or maybe I am biased. :D
Score 1 for KY. :P
Slavery
Monday, October 1, 2007
Just now, while watching the Monday Channel 8 8pm show (搞笑至尊), one character said a phrase, "奴才永远是奴才".Its meaning deeply resonated throughout my entire being. For alas, I am doomed to a lifetime of slavery!
Looks like someone 一辈子永远做奴才 wor.
"皇上万岁万岁万万岁! 皇上有如何吩咐?"
