A Pseudo Review Post
Thursday, December 31, 2009
I originally wanted to do a review post for the year. I wrote a few sentences, and then realized that I don't want to do a review post after all.

There are some things that I wanted to write, things that are very fitting for a review post and should be in it, but I can't.

And since I can't express the things I wanted to, I realized that doing a review post would be pointless. So, no, I won't be doing a review post this year.

Instead, I am wishing everyone a very happy new year ahead, and hope that 2010 will be a good year for us all! =D

I got my laptop back!!! YAY! Turns out that my motherboard got burnt out from overheating. HaHa! Looks like it's time to get a laptop cooler... =p

Anyway, I also got back my results.

Communications Management: B
Strategic HR: B+
Compensation and Benefits: A-
Social Inequalities: Satisfactory
French 1: A+

Semester GPA: 4.2

I am very pleased with my results. They are what I really expected, after taking the exams. =D

Comms Management is my lowest grade. It wasn't a let down la, cause I expected that grade. I mean, yeah la, it would be nice if it was a B+ instead, but I knew it won't go anyway above that. But yeah, B is my expected grade la.

My two HR cores performed to my expectations. I really expected at least B+ for these, so I am pleased with what I got.

I S/Ued my Social Inequalities. HaHa! I am just glad that I got an S for it. =D

French!!! A+!!! I am really really really happy! Learning French has been something I wanted to do ever since I was young, and now that I finally took a module in it and in the end, excelling in it, this is something I am really proud of.

It also validated my decision not to take Accounting as a second spec when I was offered the choice in the beginning of Sem 1. If I took Accounting, I won't have enough AUs to take French. Yep. Getting an A+ for French really showed that I made the right decision. =D

So, YAY for a good sem! Here's looking forward to next semester! =D

My brother came back earlier than expected. And he's staying longer than expected as well.

What does that means? It means that with my laptop dead and sent for repair (and goodness knows when it will be ready), I will be laptop-less and subsequently, Internet-less until at least 3rd January.

Ok la. Maybe I am exaggerating on the Internet-less bit. After all, I can still use his laptop when he goes out. Or I can use my iPhone, which I am using right now to blog. But you can't expect me to be online 24/7 on iPhone; it's impractical. Also, I don't have MSN Messenger on my phone. So yeah, I am virtually offline.

Well, time for me to go back to the caveman days. Read my books all over again. Listen to Yes933 on the radio. Watch more tv. Worse comes to worse, rewatch Grey's on my Internet-less desktop (haha. Luckily I backed up previous seasons on my portable harddrive…). Fun right? =p

So yeah. If you wanna contact me, please call or SMS me. And for those close friends who know my home number, please call to talk to me too. Or even, ask me out during this festive period! I can brighten up your day! =D

See you when my laptop returns, or when my brother goes back to camp, whichever is earlier. =p

Hope
Wednesday, December 23, 2009
I think I am a very patient person.

What others can't really wait, I waited. I waited and waited. Despite many advices, I continue to wait. I have hope. This is what drives me to wait. Hope.

Two weeks. Maybe it will stretch to more. I don't know. I hope not.

Besides hope, I also have confusion. I don't know what kind of situation I am in. I don't know what things are really like at the other side.

But I have hope. I will still have hope, as long as until things are made clear. Then hope will possibly transform into certainty. Or maybe it will die off. We will see. And I will continue to wait.

J'espère, je souhaite et j'attends...

My suayness continued all the way from yesterday.

Today is my course registration. At 9.30am, I have to immediately click on the stupid thing to register my courses.

I TELL YOU I TELL YOU I TELL YOU! At 9.28, my laptop screen went berserk! OMG! I can't even describe the horror!!!

I have to use my bro's laptop to log in at 9.40+ to register. Luckily can get most of the courses. Most. Ha. I see how la, during add/drop, see whether can be in the same class with my friends or not.

After doing some diagnosis, I confirmed that my laptop LCD screen is spoiled, and my graphics card is gone. Sigh. I am gonna use my bro's laptop till the repairs are done. Luckily he's in NS. But weekends dunnoe how. Can die. =p

ASK ME OUT DURING WEEKENDS! =D Or now, even. I am too sian at home liao. ASK ME OUT ASK ME OUT ASK ME OUT!!! =p

Survivor Results
Monday, December 21, 2009
Yeah. Rain really = bad luck.

Russell didn't win Survivor, although he was in the Top Three. It really was a disappointing end to a very exciting game. In that episode, you really gotta admire Russell for his quick wits and scheming to stay ahead. Seriously. Anybody would have voted him out. I would have. I thought this episode would be especially dangerous for him at this point. But no. He used his very own way to make sure he stayed in the game.

He played a very mean game. He stepped on everyone, he didn't care who got hurt, and he was smart and quick-witted. You wouldn't want to encounter him in real life. Hell no. I won't want to. But on TV, you gotta admit, he makes good television. It's pretty funny though. All along, in the previous seasons, I have been rooting for the good guys to win. Basically, the anti-thesis of Russell. Yet, this season, I have been rooting for Russell to win since the very beginning. Maybe more for the fact that I really respect that he is really playing the game. He plays the game harder and better than any of the Survivors I have ever seen (that's a lot, considering he is in the 19th season of the game). =)

The next season would be another All-Stars team, comprising of the "Heroes" (the good guys that everyone like) and "Villians" (in other words, Russell). I really do hope Russell is gonna come back. I am curious to see if and how he can make it to the top this time (I am assuming the taping started during the airing of Samoa, and all the other contestants has no clue who he is... that would make it fun! =D).

If there's no Russell, maybe I won't watch. Maybe. Must see who else is there also. Frankly, after Russell, all the other villains in the previous seasons are like nothing. Pft. =p

More Rain = Bad Luck
OMG! My clothes-drying woes continue today!

It was a bright, sunny morning, with lots and LOTS AND LOTS of sunlight. I put the clothes out to dry at 11ish am, after I woke up.

Then hor, ayioh... while I was innocently surfing the Internet, I noticed my room getting darker. I didn't really care one, cause it is not that dark-until-rain-type. And then, a split second later, KABABOOM, the rain started pouring. OMG! It was a mad rush to collect back all the clothes and the bamboo poles! Now the clothes are totally wet lor.

What's more maddening is that after I collected back the clothes, the rain STOPPED! And it was sunny all over again. I was debating whether to bring the wet clothes out to dry again. And I procrastinated on my decision by playing Bejeweled. Lucky I never ar, because it is raining again. =x I really hate the weather sometimes.

Does this mean bad luck? Does this mean that Russell will not win Survivor later?? Oh noes!

Stay tuned to find out!

Almost Killer Litter and Survivor
Sunday, December 20, 2009
Just now, while I was collecting the clothes poles back, I discovered something horrendous!

One of the bamboo poles was actually on the verge of breaking. It was hanging on by a small amount of bamboo skin, and the rest of the pole was actually on the verge of dropping. OMG! I was so horrified lor! If the bamboo pole actually broke, me and my family would be featured in the papers for killer-littering (you know how the whole of Singapore is so fixated on killer litters...)! Wa heng never break lor, or else ar....

Tomorrow is the finale episode of Survivor Samoa. HaHa! After not watching for so many seasons, I am a regular viewer of this season. The main reason why I watched this season is because of Russell. He is a smart and conniving player, who will go through all means to strategise and stay ahead. Finding 3 Hidden Immunity Idols all by himself, without any clues, is a not a simple feat. Despite him not needing the money (he's a multi-millionaire already), I am rooting for him to win, because he deserves it, for outwitting, outplaying and outlasting everyone. =D

Genting 2009: The Finale

We woke up at 7.30am to go for the hotel's breakfast buffet, after witnessing the very long queues yesterday at 9.30. HaHa! Seriously. I really felt like sleeping.

After breakfast, we wanted to shop, but the shops ain't opened so early. So, we went back to the hotel to play Cluedo. Guess whose room? Yeah. Mine, cause CQ was holding the Cluedo board. LOL!

We played Cluedo till 10+, and then we went to shop. I didn't get anything, cause I didn't see anything I particularly liked. I also wanted to shop for some presents, but nothing interests me leh.

After Cluedo, we went to Old Town to eat lunch. Again, I didn't eat anything. I wasn't really in the mood to eat, and besides, I was feeling quite full from the breakfast buffet.

After lunch, we went to collect our luggage from the hotel's lobby and then boarded the bus back home.

I mostly slept on the journey, catching up with so much lost-sleep these few days. I also need some rest too, cause I haven't been getting enough rest for my flu. Sigh. We arrived at Singapore at around 10 after clearing the customs. We went back home via WQ's father's bus. =D

Hmm. BFF actually asked me, "Have you really done anything in this trip?" Actually, yeah. His questions were quite valid. What have I really done besides eating and visiting Ripley's? I didn't go to the theme park because I wasn't really up for waking up so early (max rest for my flu). I didn't join the rest at the casino until the very last night, and I didn't even gamble.

However, I really felt that it wasn't the activities I did that matter. To me, this trip is about spending time and having fun with my friends. And I did, and therefore, I enjoyed this trip to Genting! =D

Cheers to my travelling mates, and may we have more travels together next time! =D

Genting 2009: Day 2 Part 2

At 1pm, we all met up to decide what to do. In the end, we all split up again to do the things that we wanna do. Joyce, Gloria and I went to "Ripley's Believe It or Not"'s Museum in First World Plaza, while the rest went back to the casino to gamble.

The museum is quite interesting. You can really learn a lot of strange facts and happenings. We took quite a lot of pics! =D But yeah, I agree with the rest la. Once you go in there, you won't want to go back again, cause nothing much will change. =p

After that, we all met up at Genting Hotel's restaurant to have high tea buffet. The food is kinda so-so lor. For RM21 per pax, it is kinda worth it la. It is very filling though, cause I ate quite a lot. =p

After the buffet, we all went back to the hotel to rest and play Citadels. Everyone came into my room to play, cause CQ was holding the cards in his bag. HaHa! It's quite fun la, but it can be a slow game also, and I almost felt like sleeping towards the end. =p

After the game, all of us took a miniature break (ie, sleeping). At 8, we all met up for dinner at 好味 at First World Plaza. I didn't eat anything, cause I was still filling full. Then, we all went to Coffee Bean & Tea Leaves at Genting Hotel for some nice beverages. There's nothing like sipping hot chocolate in the chilling wind. Heavenly. =)

After that, we all went into the casino. Yes. I can go in this time, cause I borrowed WQ's jeans (koo koo jeans!!!) under the persuasion of the rest, and also because I don't wanna go back to the hotel room alone after dinner and wait for god-knows-how-many-hours before they return.

Don't worry. I still stuck to my principle of not gambling in a casino. I watched the rest gamble lor. Towards the end, I got very tired and bored. Like, come on. How exciting can it be watching your friends lose and make money like nobody's business?

In the end, we all left the casino around 2+am, and went for some supper at MarryBrown. So, yeah. Tomorrow's check-out, and back to Singapore we go!

(Actually, I didn't write this post at 3am on Monday. I bathed and went to sleep after I returned to my room. =p)

Genting 2009 - Day 2 Part 1

I kena cheated by the stupid programme sheet yesterday night lor. Instead of Mr Magorium, they showed Superman Returns. Ergh.

The cats came back at 1:30am, and after some admin and discussion, we went back to sleep at 3.

LOL! We were all late for breakfast. We were supposed to meet at 8.30, but BFF's alarm didn't go off. Kim Seng and Wen Qiang didn't hear the alarm in their room. So, in the end, we all met up at 9.30. Luckily I woke up at 9 and realised that we were very late and started calling the rest.

The hotel's breakfast buffet was so-so lor. Nothing to rave about, actually. Gloria, HuiLing and HuiLi ate earlier and went off to the theme park. So, only left with me, Joyce, BFF, KS and WQ until 1pm.

After breakfast, we walked around, taking pics with the Christmas decorations in Genting.

They wanted to go to the casino, and I agreed lor, cause got nothing else to do ma. I ain't gonna gamble (read this for the reasons why), just gonna go there and meow at the rest.

However, I was stopped at the door. Cause.... I was wearing berms. LOL! I didn't bring jeans to Genting (in retropect, I should have la, because it's damn bloody cold in here), so I decided to come back to my room.

Which is why I am sitting here, blogging and watching Superman Returns. Again. Sigh. Meeting them at 1pm later....

Genting 2009 - Day 1

So, here I am. Sitting in my room alone, while the rest of my friends are gambling away in the casino. Just imagine me, sitting woefully alone, with extremely wet hair, blogging away...

Our trip started very early in the morning. Sleeping for only 3 hours is no joke, and soon, there'll be consequences...

We got on the bus at Boon Lay Shopping Center, and off we go!

My sneezings also started. Like I have said earlier, whenever I have very little sleep and I have to wake up early in the morning, I will develop a full-blown flu in the day. True enough, it did. Part of the reason why I came back early was because I am simply too sick and too tired to do anything else.

We reached Genting around 1:30pm, and we had chicken rice for lunch at some chinese restaurant (I forgot the name la...). It was ok la, except the portion were kinda small.

After getting our room keys (I am sharing with BFF, duhz) and slacking for awhile, we decided to go out and do things!

First, we went to bowl at Genting Bowl. LOL! My skills were lousy as usual, but I had fun, so that's all it matters! =D

After that, we went around exploring. We went to Genting Hotel to check out the KTV rates. Too bad they were too expensive. I was really looking forward to singing KTV again, after a long time of not doing so.

We had dinner at MerryBrown. I ate porridge (yes, they have porridge). It was plain, but for a very sick cat like me, it is just nice. The rest ate chicken. I had to restrain myself from "stealing" chicken. I can't eat fried food, or my throat will really die.

After dinner, we watched "Princess and the Frog" at the theater. It's a typical Disney movie; a feel-good movie. The ending had me in tears, as a lot of happy endings tend to do for me. It's quite a nice movie la, if you want to feel good after a long hard day.

So now, I am in my room, sucking on my Strepsil tablet, blogging and waiting for the rest to return so we can discuss our plans for tomorrow.

Maybe I'll sleep, or stay up watching Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium on TV, while waiting for the rest. Ha.

So yes, bonne nuit my dears! =D

Leaving For Genting... Soon
In 3.5 hours' time, I have to wake up to prepare for my Genting trip with the ASG cats (well, some of them at least).

So, why am I still blogging?

I don't know. Feel the need to, I guess.

These 2 days I have kept myself busy with activities.

On Thursday, I went back to my hall to take part in the children's camp. It was fun, playing with the kids and enjoying with my friends. It's a different experience managing kids compared to being a SA for the Hall's FOC in the beginning of the sem. The kids were really hyperactive, and they are very frank with their opinions of us. For example, one of them keep calling me "funny hair" because he thinks that my hair looks weird. LOL! They are 天真无邪 la. I mean, I know kids are like that one ma, they will say anything that comes to their mind automatically. I don't take it to heart la, just that it's a bit embarrassing whenever he calls me "funny hair" really loudly. =p But yeah. Dealing with the kids can be very tiring, but I feel good in the end. At least they had fun. =D

On Friday, I went to YiChun's birthday celeb at Sunkist Resort in East Coast Park. I saw Amanda, YiChun, SuPing, Wendy and Yit Hann. First time I saw them in ages! It's nice reconnecting with them again, after not meeting up with them for a long long time. I hope we have more chances to meet up in the future! =)

Right. I should be really going to sleep now. MG lor. Now 3hours and 10mins to sleep. Guess I will be doing lots of sleeping on the bus. =p

Yip Special Pasta
Tuesday, December 8, 2009
For quite some time, my brother has been making a very special kind of pasta. He created the sauce himself.

Today, out of boredom, I decided to cook that pasta for lunch! I used fusilli for my pasta, and below are pictures of the ingredients used for making the sauce.

Clockwise from the top right: Ketchup, pepper, sesame oil, oyster sauce and chilli.

The end result:

It looks nice right? =p However, it still doesn't taste as good as my brother's. He said that need to do a lot of times to get the exact feel of how much ingredients to put in to make the sauce. HaHa. Actually, that's how most people cook. They can't really tell you how much salt/sauce/pepper to put in. They do it on instinct. Guess I still need to do a lot more cooking! =D

YaY! One step closer to being a 贤丈良父: 进的了厨房,出得了厅堂! =D

All that BFF's fault la.

In July, he recommended me to watch Boys Over Flower to 解闷, and I spent 4 days crying and crying over the show.

Then, after this semester, he recommended me to watch 宫心计 to 解闷 also. I spent about a week hooked onto the drama.

宫心计 was the hottest drama in HK for these past few weeks, with roughly half of HK's citizens tuning in to the last episode. I can see why.

This drama is addictive, and the storyline is quite well-paced, letting us hooked onto every single episode waiting to discover what comes next.

宫心计 is aptly-named. This drama mainly revolves around the 后宫 of the Chinese Court, exposing the politics and the resulting 尔虞我诈 of the 宫女s and 妃子s. However, although this drama is exciting, I feel that watching too much all at once (like, 8 episodes in 1 day, omg) can be rather depressing. The scheming and betrayal is really too much to bear, and makes the world look so 悲观.

But, the main character, 刘三好, is a bright spot amongst the darkness. Her mantra of "做好事,说好话,存好心" serves her well in life, and has gotten her the support of many people. However, the HK people find her "too fake". They grouse that there can never be such a perfect person in the world.

I beg to differ. Even though she might be "too perfect", but I admire her for sticking to her morals in every situation. She is someone I really look up to. I should really do more good things, say more good words and have more good thoughts in my life. Just like somebody I know. =)

My favorite scenes has to be in the last-two episodes. I really can't tell you why, because I will spoil you, but seeing how the events are played out really make my hair stand and me gripping on to every single second. I keep watching the later parts of the second-last episode. So good! =D

I watched the original HK drama in Canto. I tried watching the Chinese dubs, but omg. I can't stand how unnatural how the character sounds in Chinese. Well, once a Cantonese, always a Cantonese. =)

You all should watch this drama, if only you can stand all the constant 尔虞我诈 of the women in the 后宫.
