ASG Chalet & New Specs
Friday, May 29, 2009
Right. I have been wanting to blog, but alas, time is not on my side.

Last week, from Friday till Monday morning, the entire ASG took a hiatus from their daily lives and went into a retreat in Pasir Ris Road.

It's our annual ASG chalet!

We had tremendous fun throughout our 4 days and 3 nights there, with the non-stop mahjong, night cycling on Friday, our various food cooked by SL and gang and our various fringe activities.

Kim Seng came and surprised us. He specially took time off from his studies and came to join us. We are so touched, Kim Seng! All the best for your exams, ok? =D

I really enjoyed this chalet a lot. I miss the fun and laughter that all of us went experienced during the entire chalet. Too bad our cooking competition didn't proceed due to lousy utensils. I was really looking forward to cooking and tasting good food wor. =(

The photos can be viewed here. And this is a video of me playing mahjong, spec-less. And I still managed to hu one round, ok? =p

Well. Something bad happened during the chalet. I broke my specs on the very last night, due to a freak accident involving a precariously-balanced pair of spectacles on the sink, glass lenses and hard hard floor tiles. So, I went around blind the whole Sunday night, and Monday morning.

I went to make a pair of new spectacles immediately after I return, and I collected them on Wednesday evening. (I always wanted to make a new pair because I felt that my old pair is starting to become chui, but I kept delaying due to time/money issues. And well, this is the perfect time, isn't it?)

Well, sorry to disappoint, but no pictures. For now. I want to 卖一下关子 until I have some decent photos to show you all. =D But so far, mon quinze said it looks "trendy" and Khooty said it looks better than the old blue one. So, you have to trust these 2 cats for now. =D

So, after all, something good did come out of this seemingly bad incident, so that's not too bad after all (There's a English saying and a Chinese 成语 for these kinda situations, but I can't think of those right now. Help?). =D

I can't wait for the next ASG chalet! =D

SEM 2 Results
Friday, May 22, 2009
YES YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!

I CAN GET INTO HR!!!!

Here's a full breakdown of my results:

OB: A-
Stats: B+
Econs: B+
Marketing: B+
Communications Fundamental: B+

I am SUPER pleased with OB. Given a B+ average for my coursework, to get an A- means that my paper is a A/A+ grade. =D Definitely HR for me!

I am quite disappointed with Stats, cause I felt that my exam was super super easy (even easier than OB, in fact), the kind that I am confident of getting 90% for. Guess my coursework was kinda chui. LOL. But oh well. At least I got a B+ for it! =D

For Marketing, I am damn relieved lor! I was like telling myself that I would be happy with any grade as long as I passed the damn thing. And I am so shocked that I managed to get a B+ for it lor. HaHa! Thought my coursework was a goner (poor participation (cause i totally didn't care about giving good answers in his class), a obviously-minimum-effort-individual report). Guess I managed to crap out something right, or that I lucked out and got a marker who appreciates my crappy ideas a bit more. =p

I am just happy for Econs and Comms Fund. They were within expectations. I am a bit relieved for econs, cause I thought the paper was quite tough. But YAY! =D

My GPA still remains at 4.1 for this sem, so YAY! =D

It's less than 17 hours to the release of my exams results.

Damn scared man. Damn worried. Damn 紧张.

Luckily I got work till 9pm to distract me from the anxiety.

While SL 添油加醋 and added 12 more hours to my anguish.... FIFI!!!!! :(

OH NOES!

Addiction to Grey's Finale
Monday, May 18, 2009
I am watching Grey's finale almost everyday.

And I kept crying. And crying.

I need to put myself out of my misery.

God. I am crying at 1am, and I have to wake up less than 5 hours later for work. Great.

I just watched Grey's finale.

I am crying so badly. Even more badly than the other times I have cried.

OMG. OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!

I really don't want to be spoiler-ish for the people who didn't watch yet.

OMG!

Crying. So. Badly.

OMG!

I CANNOT (and I still have the patience to do some HTML coding) wait for Season 6.

CRYING. OMG.

Invigilation
Tuesday, May 12, 2009
After so many years of being invigilated, I finally got to invigilate people! =D

Due to a lack of invigilators for today's exams, they asked some temp staff from my department to stand in. Due to some complicated events, I became an invigilator.

Haha! The process was an eye-opener. It wasn't fun or anything. It was quite boring at times, waiting for the 2 hours to end. I kept walking up and down the aisle, trying to catch people cheating ease my boredom.

Also, I escorted a number of people to the toilet. Like, totally.

I also saw an ex-colleague of mine, from the 140 days. Quite surprised to see him there, LOL. He didn't see me, despite me walking up and down his row a number of times. Tsk. (I am not naming who. Guess. =p)

Okay. Fine. It's quite a cool experience. I derive some pleasure in collecting scripts, in checking their photo IDs. Like, totally cool. =D

Shop N Save Revisited
Friday, May 8, 2009
So, I went back to my former workplace yesterday with my parents (they wanted to buy fruits for the altar, I want milk for my Coco Crunch).

It has certainly been quite a while since I entered 768's Shop N Save. Anyway, I didn't want to blog about the shopping experience. I want to narrate what happened after we paid the cashier.

So, we got 2 stamps from our purchase. Those annoying bits of stamps that haven't died down, and the company seem to be 敲诈-ing the customers more with increased minimum amount of purchase and increased number of stamps they have to buy before getting a stupid voucher. So yeah, we got 2 of these.

When we were walking out, I saw a very familiar sight. This old old OLD auntie was standing by the doorway, extending her arms like a beggar, begging people for stamps. My mother, having no use of these stamps, gave them to this auntie.

I remembered her while working as a cashier there 3 years ago. I remember that after purchasing at my counter, she would stand there and harass other customers for their stamps, like I am haunted by an incessant kiasu ghost. 3 years later, she is doing the same thing again, at a different location. It was disgusting, honestly.

Yes, you can tell that I bear no goodwill towards her. I think she is very pathetic. I think kiasu-ism has driven her to such pathetic measures. I think she should spend more time watching 黄金年华 instead of harassing customers of the store.

Or, she could be feeling lonely because her children are not at home/abandoned her/husband died or she could be an unmarried spinster who can only derive fun out of collecting stamps and harassing other people.

But still. She is a nuisance, and I am glad I don't have to deal with her.

Bangkok!
Friday, May 1, 2009
After so many days of deliberation, I finally decided to go to Bangkok with the Chipmunks. =D

Yep. I won't be taking much money there, so I don't think I will shop crazily. However, I do intend to revamp my wardrobe for the next academic year... (Heh. That was my aim for HK trip last year, and look at the results. Revamping my wardrobe indeed. *snerk*) =)

I really hope there won't be any sudden demonstrations by the protesters. I mean, seriously. Our trip was on the verge of canceling due to the protests, but it all died down pretty soon, so we were like thinking that it's safe to go and all. So, yeah. Stay at home, people. Doth doesth protest too much. =p

And the H1N1 virus, omg. I hope it won't spread to Thailand. I really REALLY hope it wouldn't.

Okay. Here's to a safe, fun and exciting 4-days Bangkok trip! Photos and blog to be uploaded after I come back (no guarantees though =p)! =D
